Mark Atkinson’s Chosen Charities for Testimonial Year

As the Gloucester Rugby community gears up for a year of celebration, there’s much more to the year than the events calendar. Mark Atkinson’s Testimonial Year is focused on bringing value to all of those involved and rallying support for two remarkable charities. Both charities are making a significant impact on the lives of individuals and families facing challenging circumstances so let’s take a closer look at the inspiring work of 4ED Fundraising and Hope for Tomorrow, and how Mark’s personal connections have led him to champion these causes.

4ED Fundraising: Battling Together Against Adversity

At the heart of the 4ED campaign lies a touching story of unity. The campaign has been established to raise both awareness and funds in support of Ed Slater and his family’s battle against Motor Neuron Disease (MND). Ed Slater, a former rugby legend himself, is facing MND with remarkable courage, and his journey has sparked a movement of solidarity. The 4ED campaign is a testament to the strength of friendship and community, as it seeks to stand by Ed and his family in their fight against this devastating disease. Having played rugby alongside Ed Slater during their time at Gloucester, their camaraderie has transcended the rugby pitch and turned into a powerful force for change.

Hope for Tomorrow: Bringing Comfort and Care to Those in Need

Hope for Tomorrow, another organisation close to Mark’s heart, is on a mission to make a tangible difference in the lives of cancer patients. The charity partners with the NHS to bring cancer treatment closer to patients through its mobile cancer care units. Dealing with cancer is undoubtedly a challenging journey, and Hope for Tomorrow recognises the importance of easing the burden. By providing convenient and accessible treatment options, they aim to alleviate some of the logistical and emotional challenges that patients and their families face. Mark’s personal experience, having lost his Mum to cancer, fuelled his decision to support Hope for Tomorrow’s cause.

A Year of Giving Back: Mark Atkinson’s Testimonial Year

Mark’s Testimonial Year is not just a celebration of his accomplishments on the rugby field; it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need. Both the 4ED Fundraising campaign and Hope for Tomorrow will be the beneficiaries of this year’s events and initiatives. By attending the events, you the supporters will not only enjoy the excitement of rugby-related festivities but also contribute to the advancement of these noble causes.

The dual support for 4ED Fundraising and Hope for Tomorrow demonstrates the breadth of impact that the rugby community can have when it comes together for a greater purpose. Through this year of celebration and giving back, attendees and supporters have the chance to uplift the lives of individuals battling MND and cancer, proving that rugby’s influence extends far beyond the confines of the pitch.
